Mendoza, te amo

So I escaped from Buenos Aires, (although I was actually just getting used to it and think if I stayed a little longer I would love it dearly, but it is just a little too big for a wee Bradfordian like me) and am now in a little town (16 hours by bus, included in service: champagne and a medly of 80s pop videos on tv) called Mendoza, where the steak is great and the wine is better.

Tomorrow we're off on a cycling and wine tasting tour, which should be loads of fun.
The past few days has consisted of partying (that's all you can do in Buenos Aires!) walking around La Boca and Recoleta, two really cool areas of BA, and generally meeting some amazing people.
I love the process of meeting people when you're travelling, you meet someone, you spend a day say, going to a water park in the middle of the mountains (that was what yesterday consisted of!) and then you say 'really lovely to meet you, have a great life!' and you part! It's such a refreshing way to meet people, although I can see myself wanting a bit more stability after a while, someone to grow familiar with for a week or two, but this transience is grand for now (met a lot of the Irish, hence 'grand'). But que sera sera. I love my own company (I am bloody good fun) so I don't mind a little solo time.

It's really exciting talking to people who've been to all the places I have in store, and knowing that 6 months of amazing views, amazing wildlife, amazing music, amazing food and amazing people lie ahead of me... I've only just begun and I feel like I've done so much!

Tell you what though,
I'm bloody shattered!

Rain in San Telmo

Well I wasn't expecting this.
It's flippin raining.
Eating my porridge in Laura's kitchen (rain, porridge, I'm basically still in th UK!) then heading out to the Cementeria de Recoleta with my camera and then to the MALBA (museo de arte de latinoamericano de buenos aires) for some culture (but mostly because it's raining) before we go out for STEAK tonight (oh boy). Got to navigate the streets of BA on my own for the first time, it's a pretty complicated city, with a basically unnavigable bus serviec (unless you live there, but even then...)
It will be an adventure.

Yesterday we wandered round the market in San Telmo, which was great. I established the  meander which will carry through the rest of the trip...and one which will only slow down as it gets even warmer. Oh yes.

For lunch we went to a wicked grill place and had churipan (hot dog with chorizo) and chips, followed by a flan. Basically since I arrived we've eaten dough with meat in (empanadas), pasta and pesto, meat in bread, then pizza! They bloody love their dough products apparently.
And their meat.

Then we went and had a cuppa in a cafe and watched some tango which was pretty nifty. Yesterday evening was lovely too, we went to Laura's friend's flat and I met some lovely people, which got me excited about going to my first hostel tomorrow night!
Get the ball rolling on this travelling thing.

Photos to come as soon as I buy a chord for my camera! Oops.

Ciao for now, enjoy the sun England has apparently stolen from us here.

Hola BA

So apparently exhaustion and exitement (plus a little bit of being in the air) still make me sick.
I have arrived at buenos aires, had a lovely chat with my taxi driver ( in spanish naturally,) about bradford and argentina and am typing on an ipad ( bit of product placement for you there) at laura's abode, having freshly showered and dressed. Off out for some grub as my empty belly is ready for some interesting eats.

LET THE ADVENTURE BEGIN!!
